Everything Is A Remix: Mapping Tarantino's influences

It's no secret that Quentin Tarantino uses his vast cinematic knowledge to pay homage in many of his films, and the Kill Bill series of films is no exception.

Check out this fantastic video from Robert Grigsby Wilson (www.robgwilson.com) editing together the source with the Tarantino remix.

HP ePrint & TRON: Legacy projection mapping in London

As huge fans of the original Tron, we are extremely excited to see TRON: Legacy at the iMax in London very soon.

Guided Collective, a London-based innovation agency recently premiered this fantastic projection mapping project for HP's ePrint mobile printing products a mere stone's throw from the iconic iMax cinema, on the side of the equally iconic Queen Elizabeth Hall building.

The clip also includes audio from the fantastic Daft Punk film soundtrack, which has been giving our speakers a good bashing this week. Turn it up!

Flying Lotus - Great music video, clever marketing

Okay so we are big Flying Lotus fans, and also old school gamers, so it's only natural that this video would be right up our street.

However what is really clever is that the designers, Beeple, have made all of the 3-D character assets available to download for free to allow end users to create their own works. Hopefully you will see some interesting and results at http://vimeo.com/groups/flyinglotus in the not too distant future.

In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy some pixelated überviolence (and some pretty sexy bleeps and bloops).

Enormous Basquiat retrospective at the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris

Media_httpwwwmamparis_nevdu

It may well be art week in London with Frieze and its many lesser imitators, but from where we sit, Paris is where it's at right now (although some will argue that's been the case for some time now.)

With FIAC a week away, this week city opening of the largest single exhibition of works ever seen in France by Jean-Michel Basquait, in celebration of the celebrated graffiti artist and Warhol collaborators 50th birthday.

And whilst you are there, take a half-day to head out to Versailles for the fantastic Takeshi Murakami exhibition: http://www.chateauversailles.fr/les-actualites-du-domaine/evenements/evenemen...

World's biggest tag? Momo's Eight-Mile NYC Paint Line

Media_httpblogsvillag_hgaii

A few years back visiting New York I noticed a line of thin orange paint dripping along the sidewalk. At first I assumed it was shoddy workmen however after realising it was a seemingly continuous line I figured it was some kind of guerrilla art activity.

As a fan of street art and guerrilla activity in general I searched the Internet on returning to the UK but found nothing. Imagine my delight last week, several years later, on finding this New York Times article via The Village Voice. Turns out it was the world's biggest tag!:

Graffiti and street art show to take over MOCA's Geffen Contemporary in 2011

Media_httplatimesblog_agzgg

Given his high profile support of street art, most recently through Deitch Projects in New York, some might say it's unsurprising that his first major survey as director of MOCA is what is promising to be the biggest and most authoritative graffiti and street art exhibition.

25 artists will be invited to do major installations, with more than 100 artists represented in total.
